Last minute! Dimitris Itoudis at Fenerbahçe Beko

Dimitris Itoudis has been appointed head coach of Fenerbahçe Beko, who finished last season as champion of the ING Basketball Super League. A 3-year contract was signed with Itoudis in the yellow-dark blue team, which recently differed from Aleksandar Djordjevic.

Fenerbahçe Beko men’s basketball team has reached a three-year contract with experienced coach Dimitris Itoudis, who has two EuroLeague championships in his career, for the head coach position.

Who is Dimitris Itoudis?

Born on September 8, 1970 in Trikala, Greece, Dimitris Itoudis began his coaching career in Zagreb’s U-18 team between 1990-1992. Afterwards, Itoudis worked as an assistant coach for the Zagreb A-Team between 1992-95, and as an assistant coach at PAOK 1995-96 and Panionios 1996-97.

Experienced coach, who was the head coach of BC Filipos between 1997-99 and was the head coach of the BC Ment team in 1999, began his 13-year Panathinaikos adventure in 1999. Itoudis, who was an assistant to Zeljko Obradovic, who is one of the legends of our club between 1999-2012 and was part of the team that achieved historic success, especially five EuroLeague championships, the Greek team left in the summer of 2012.

Itoudis, who came to our country in the 2013-14 season and had head coach experience with Banvit, finished the 30-game basketball Super League basic series with 28 victories with the Bandırma representative and managed to play in the semifinals of the playoffs.

Dimitris Itoudis, who left Banvit in the summer of 2014 and went to CSKA Moscow, Russia’s strong representative in the EuroLeague, spent eight seasons there. During this time, Itoudis led the two EuroLeague titles, six VTB leagues and six Russian league titles won by his team, and was awarded the “Alexander Gomelskiy Coach of the Year” award at EuroLeague 2016 and 2019. Our successful coach has also been named coach five times in VTB. During his time at CSKA, Dimitris Itoudi played 522 official matches and won 420 victories in these matches.

Dimitris Itoudis is considered one of the most successful coaches who has left his mark on the recent era of European basketball. Our experienced coach also serves as the head coach of the Greek national team.
